Default please help

I started hearing a thumping sound in the rear whenever I hit poholes. The sound reminds me of a bad strut mount or a bad shock. So i jacked the rear up and started pulling on the rear tire to make the noise again. There is some play in the tire and also there is a clunking sound. Could it be bad bearings or something else. This noise has been driving me nuts. Any thoughts????

I've seen stock torque arms bend approx 6 inches ahead of the rear, and cause the front of the rear end to angle up so high the springs almost fall out of their pockets. You'll just have to check everything out. Bob

The play you have in the tire should be the axle moving back and forth hitting the center pin in your carrier. It's normal but not likely your culprit.
