9" Case Size
Hey,
I'm rebuilding my 9" rear and I need to know the case size for f-bodies so I can order the correct rebuild kit. Are they all a standard 3" (3.062") case?
While I'm ordering stuff from Moser, do you guys think I should ditch my Detroit Locker (which is unknown whether it is damaged at the moment or not), and get a Wavetrac differential. I will be ordering a new differential and gears from Moser, since I don't know what is damaged in my rear end right now (except maybe the axles).
Thanks.

There is no "case size" for f bodies. Chances are its a 3.06 though....but it could be different. 2.89, 3.25 or 3.80(I think). The big 3.8 case is for 40 spline axles. You can squeeze in MW 40 splines in a 3.25 I think. (they advertise thatI think)
But most are 3.06 and some are 2.89 and both can carry 28,31 or 33 spline axles I think.
Id go with a spool.

I ve never had 35's myself, (always gone to 40's) its impossible to be a 2.89 then....
Your pulling the chunk anyways right?
Its undoubtably 3.06 but it could be a 3.25.....in a very very off chance.

If you've got 35 spline axles, you've likely got a 3.25" case. There are only a couple manufacturers that make diffs that allow you to fit 35 spline axles in a 3.062 case so it's possible, but otherwise 35 spline = 3.25" case.
