Default backlash

ok im instaling 410s in a 2002 transam 10bolt. i cant get the back lash down. its like at 5 .i know its too loose but i have no shims on the left and dont kno wat to do to lower it?no shims on the right side im sorry tired lol

i was thinking maybe changing the shim on the pinion?

whats wrong with .005? spec is .005 to .009

yes it has one to ten on it it supose to be between 0 and 1

If you are check gear recomendation that might be too tight. If your pinion depth is off it will screw the back lash up.
What pinion shim are you using?

This makes no sense. You say you have 5, but 5 of what? and you also say you have no shim on one side? Sounds like the wrong carrier to me.
