Pics of another 8.8 build.

Do you think that shop will be willing to weld on some more torque arm mounts? I could cut the axles and send the bare center housing to have the mount welded on if they would go for that.

Hey, did you ever get that part number for the Drive Shafr Conversion Joint I need?
Just a reminder lol, I have a complete 8.8 our of an 89 Lincolt Town Car, and the stock LT1 Driveshaft from my 97 SS. What part do I need and where do I get it so I can get this ball rolling? lol

355z28, question about the 8.8? how close did you cut the L&R tubbing from the 10 bolt from the center section? and also did you cut any off the ends of the 8.8? thinking of doing this build and want to go with stock length.

OP, it's great to see this is still holding up well for you. I didn't re-read the whole thread tonight.....are you still on the 28 spline stock axles? You mentioned possibly going 31 as an upgrade later.

Im still on stock GM 28 spline axles and a stock mustang carrier with 3.73 gears from an explorer. Its been pretty solid so far.
There were multible passes this year where the car pulled the wheels any where from 6-10"
Im sure the axles are on borrowed time when I start using nitrous.

A little late, and not sure you'll see this Beaflag, but you could just use a late 3rd gen ten bolt for your donor tubes and axles. Just make sure it's a 28 spline same as the 4th gens and Mustang 8.8. It would be about 2" narrower per side. I think GM went from 26 to 28 splines on the 7.5 in 1990, but that would be easy to verify. They went from 7.5" to 7.625" at the same time. lol

So, you're saying the spacing of the spider gears to the center pin is wider in an 8.8, meaning the undercut for the c clip on the 10bolt axle needs to be more out board?
I'm thinking of doing this as a low-buck option to building a rearend, I work for a machine/fab shop, so widening the undercut portion of the axle, and making new, thicker c-clips is no problem for this guy. Or maybe even making a stepping c-clip that is wider than the groove, which would help take up a little of the side to side slack.
