Default Help me pick a posi/locker...

I installed my 9" tuesday, I traded a carb for a 4.11 tracloc third member. It worked sweet, spun two wheels on street tires...Put on my nitto radials and it only spins one...

So, what would you guys suggest?

Has anybody run a full detroit on the street? I have one in my truck, and in it the "unload/loading" jerks and clunks aren't too bad. But I feel like in a car with radials in the rain could be bad...

+1 on a TrueTrac here.

The WaveTrac is pretty badass too, but you pay extra for the extra badassery.

I looked at the trutrac, but everyone here was saying they suck and break easy. Heads and cam is in my next future so I'm not wanting to buy something that is going to break easy.

I looked into a wavetrac, I like everything but the price...haha

The Wavetrac requires 35 spline axles which your rear most likely doesn't have. I don't recommend a locker with an manual transmission, as sometimes a locker won't allow easy part throttle shifts as the locker has a lot more play in it. What would I do? I'd get your Tracloc rebuilt. Bob

That's what I have been thinking as well.

I read somewhere the clutch packs for a 8.8 out of an 03/04 cobra are much better because they carbon fiber, I also read that the rebuild kit for 8.8 are interchangeable with the 9".

Ive spent the past hour trying to find anything on that topic, but I can't find anything on the topic now.

So, any suggestions on whats the best stuff to use?

I don't want to do a full locker. I have a full detroit in my truck, it jerks pops, launches right. In a truck being built for mud..who gives a ****. But in my car with radials in the rain... idk if I wanna do that. If I do a locker, I'll just put a spool in the car.

As for the carbon fiber(cobra)clutch packs I believe your info is correct. They are better and can be used in a 9".I saw something on YellowBullet about this but don't have a link.Maybe a Mustang site?

WRONG! You cannont use 8.8 Ford clutches in a 9" Ford Positraction. There is NO possible way they will fit in the case. Cheapest option is to rebuild the positraction but the clutches wont last you long term. Truetrac is usually good for about 600-700hp on street tires with minor track time. IF you plan on running at the track all the time I would lookinto other options. Let me know if we can help.

I've owned it a year and have never once ran it at the track.....haha So I'll probably end up buying a truetrac.

Thanks man.

I had the trutrac on a hci with a 150 shot launching at 5,500-6,000 on slicks cutting 1.4xx 60's and never has a problem
