oh also i have my limiter set to 6k if that extra 300rpm makes a difference in 1/4mile with the possiblility having to finish the quarter in 5th rather than top of 4th

what tires are you running that break loose from a 10 roll? my nittos with 410s would dead hook from any roll even with my cam. I switch to a 295/45/17 MT ET Street now though and havent had them break loose once... at least on dry pavement they are a bitch in the rain. I dont know of any other 28" tire though

With that cam? Really? Why? You'll shift into 5th at around 112 with 410's and a 26" tire and 100 with 456's.

Go here, pick 98 fbody and screw around with the ratios, rpms and tire sizes.

What are all these people talking about.

You cant conjecture what gear hes gonna be in at the end of the 1/4 mile... you dont know how fast he is...

Also, it would depend on what you can rev to...

Im gonna go with 4.56 gears. I figure at ~7k I can do ~140 with a 28" tire in 4th...

Yup. 4.30s with 28" tire is 133mph 4th gear at 6800 is what i got with what ive found. 454 you should be able to go more the 7,000 depending on your valve train. My friend takes his. Tf headed 408ci 7500. Has been for a few year now with few hundreds 1/8 mile passes and few k street miles.

stock rod bolts are good to 6800. My rev is at 6800 and has been for 45k hard miles. My ls1 has 130k miles If you have your rev at 6k your car has a lot more in it!

4:10's, 400HP, and 26" tire is a proven combo.

I have been running the 26' MT DR's with a 4.11 spinning 7k. Gonna have to step it up tho, got the new mt 295/55/15's. Gonna need a 4.33 prolly. We'll see.

I was running outta gear with the 275/50/15 spinning 7k. 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile. Hints the bigger tire. Now i'm just worried it's gonna take too much gear back out. Only one way to find out....

Your prolly gonna have to spin it higher than 6K then....inless it's a TURD!! Which you need to be doing anyhow. Bolt on cars spin 6200ish ALL day. Typical cam car spins 6600-7000 depending if it's a A4 or M6.
