Default For those running an 8.8....

What u-joint are you using? The one I got w/ the rear is the wrong one and it's already caused one snapped driveshaft and rattling my teeth out on the new one....TIA

Well since I just received mine finally I'm not running any ujoint on the 8.8 yet but I was planning on running the one that came with it. What driveshaft were u running? If it was the stock DS than it should have worked with that ujoint fine. That's what Craig told me anyway. Who knows. Truthfully I don't plan on running the stock DS for too long so I'll be getting a new ujoint soon anyway.

Joe, DO NOT run that u-joint. The one he sends is the WRONG one, and it's a POS. My driveshaft has been bouncing around the entire time the rear has been in the car. I'm trying to find the correct one now...

GrapeApe, the guy I got mine from has a pretty healthy wait right now, there are a couple of board members waiting upwards of 3-6 months....

Hey Josh, do you think that the same conversion U-Joint everyone else is running (NAPA P/N 447) will work?

If you have the 1330 yoke in the rear you need a 1330/3R combo joint to fit your stock driveshaft, the spicer number is 5-212X, dont have the precision number handy.

If you have the 1350 yoke on the 8.8 the 447 is the correct joint..

KP, how do I know which yolk I got? I don't remember...

Grapeape, my pricing isn't the same as everybody else's , but the 8.8's range anywhere from 1700-2100 depending on how many options you go with. However as I stated, there is an INSANE wait on them right now......

If the rear yoke has smaller diameter caps then the driveshaft its a 1330, a 1350 and 1330 are the same span but the diameter of the caps on the 1350 is larger.

They probably gave you a 1310/1350 ot 1310/1330 joint, your deiveshaft uses a 3R not 1310..

Maybe

I'm running one of the 8.8's. I don't remember which u-joint I have, think it may be a 1330. Are you sure it is the u-joint? I think Craig has sold several of the rears and I haven't heard of anyone getting the wrong one...might have been boxed wrong perhaps?

I'm positive. I've also talked to a couple of other guys who've had the same exact problem, and swapped in the correct u-joint which cleared it up...

Thanks for the info Josh. I'm brining my DS to a machine shop to have the U-Joint pressed into the DS and Yolk. I'm just gonna have him check out the one that Craig sent with the rear and if it's not the correct one I'll just have him press the correct one into it. I got the 1350 yolk so maybe I won't have a problem. Who knows...????

Craig, not much you can really do 4 states away. I'll get it figured out, and no the U-joint you gave me isn't the right one. I've had problems with it and so did Mike Brown....Not tryin to make ya look bad, just stating the facts man. Thanks

I've got an 8.8 and the u-joint supplied does have a lot of "slack"/"play" in it compared to the correct one that Doraville Driveline put in (a spicer, but I don't know the model# of it). I have yet to locate the box or receipt for the proper serial # of it but there is a Significiant difference between the one that was supplied versus the ford to gm conversion one that Doraville driveline put on. If I was not away for training for this entire week I would try harder to locate the receipt or box that they gave with the new u-joint, it's a huge improvement over the supplied one.

I am in no way trying to knock the 8.8", I actually love the rear, put over 110 miles a day on it and have been to track a ton of times and it's solid as a rock! I probably have over 20K miles on it easy since I got it.
