what would you do?
what would you do? My car currently has 2.73's in it but i want to upgrade this spring , i currently have full bolt ons and will be doing a 4k stall. Now my question is should I buy 3.73 gears and have them installed at a shop or should I go with a rear end that has 3.42's for $200 with 66k on it or $400 obo with "9k" on it which seems like a great deal.

Stock rear ends break easily If your car is mostly strip duty ... i would forget about going with a stock type rear if you want to use slicks or sticky tires. They say stock rear ends can break very easily.
I just put a Midwest Fab 9 in my Camaro & im very happy with it.
I have 3.50 gears 3200 stall / Automatic with a 28" 275/60/15 BFG TA Radial. This is a great set-up for street & strip. Then you can bolt on slicks & not worry about anything breaking...except your driveshaft.
Use a driveshaft loop !

Go with the new 3:73's and a complete rebuild kit and have a reputable shop install it for you. If you buy something used then you run the risk of not truly knowing what your buying. Good luck bud
