driving on spare tire

driving on spare tire got a question and wanted to hear more experienced people on this subjects opinion. Have a stock rear-end by the way.
Had a flat on the interstate the other day and I only had about a mile and a half to go so I grabbed a wheel from an old set of rims that is a slightly smaller tire to get me to my destination until i could order another nitto. When I drove it home after that when I got up to about 45mph. it started to vibrate in the car. It didn't do this before at all and it's mostly on the side of the car where the smaller tire was.
My question is could this of messed up my rear-end and if so...what specifically in my rear end would need to be replaced and is it even worth it..
any help is always appreciated.

275/40/17=about 432mm rim plus sidewall 110mm x2 = 652mm
245/50 16 =about 407mm rim plus sidewall 122mm x2 = 652mm...
the rolling diameter between the 275 40 17s and 245 50 16 is near exactly the same.. there should be absolutely no problem running that tire.. if you have vibration, check the balance of the spare, condition of tread or bent rim.. dont worry about hurting the gears, the problem is elsewhere..

the vibration came after running on the spare. I'm running a 315/35/17. one has 200 miles and now a brand new tire. I had the rim checked out before I put the new tire on and it was good. I had no vibration when running that spare for that mile and a half.
But as long as y'all believe it's not an actual rear-end issue then I'm good. Starting to rule out possibilities and wanted to start with the worst-case scenario.

Best rule on thumb, put spare front ( then if spare and balance of tires do not match)
then there will not be a problem with damange to rear, in this case should not be a problem

go back to the tire place and have them check the balance and make sure the tire runs true.. it can be balanced but have a bad part in the tread or a broken belt.... take it back.. if one tire has 200 miles and the other is now new, what happened to the old tire? also make sure they mounted it right.. i dont know if mounting the directional tread will make a vibration but i know it will make a lot of road noise... your rear end is fine.. ( that is the only time i will ever tell this to another man...)
