worth gear change from 2.73?
I have the 2.73 rear in my car with a Midwest 3200 stall w/ 2.0 STR. Right now I am cutting consistent 1.7 60 fts and I am running 12.65 in the 1/4 on motor with only a couple of bolt-ons. I picked up a full second from the converter. Is there really much to gain by going to a 3.42 or a 3.73? Is there any chance it would make my converter less effective since it would not stall as high with the shorter gears? And would you recommend a 3.42 or a 3.73 for a car that dees some interstate driving, but mainly town driving? Will 3.73's get annoying on the highway, and will they even show me any gain over 3.42's?
Thanks for any info or input!

yeah, I know I would gain a lot from going to 3.73's if I had the stock converter, but not sure if I will see nearly as much of a gain since I already have a converter that is really helping me get off of the line. Atleast it would tighten my converter up on the street.

I would love to know this also. I just found out that I have 2.73's in the car when I thought that I had the 3.23's. I'm also running the same stall and really want to upgrade the gears, but if its not going to help me out then I might forget about it.

A few people from the boards claim they knocked off a solid .3 going from 2.73's to 3.42's. However, I haven't been able to find out how much trap speed they gained. I know that one of the cars did have a higher stall TC. HTH

if you already have a TC i would keep the hwy gears since they generally dont make a huge difference in the 1/4. maybe 1-2 tenths and thier terrible on the hwy. however, if you think your stall feels too loose and you do mostly city driving you may want to consider gears to make your converter feel a little tighter.
