Carrier Question/ Major Help I have a 94 trans am and my posi is going, or so I think. It starts grabbing when I turn if its hot, but I did add some additive and it mostly stopped...anyways.. I have a 2 series carrier with 273s and I want to go to 373s. I know that the gears will fit in but what happens if my posi is bad or ends up going after i put the new gears in? I called the shop and the guy was a jackass so im looking for major advice. Finally, is the carrier the posi traction part of the rear end? for instance if my posi goes with my new 373s do i have to get a 3 series carrier or what!?!? PLEASE HELPPP
Im not quite following what you are saying. Is the posi not spinning both tire on a corner? Additive is designed to let clutchs slip slightly so it is more comfortable to the driver. You can always buy a clutch pack for your carrier and rebuild it.
the carrier is the posi part,the ring gear is bolted onto the carrier,that assembly is held/positioned in the rearend housing by 2 main caps,the axle splines slide in the carrier,
