i have a LT1 with boltons and i am looking at maybe putting gears in it. (2.73 suck *****) i know that the LS1 6-speed cars kill the 10 bolt stock and the LT1 can too with minor mods ... but i got a fully built 4L60e and car putting less than 325 hp and tq could i get away with the 10 bolt lasting for a while till i get more power?
what is the approximate power range that kills them and how fast has some one gone using the 10 bolt?

i know if you got a 6-speed dont bother with the 10 bolt get a 12bolt or 9 inch
if i plan on doing a 3000-3600 stall is it worth putting a set of 3.73's and better LSD in 10 bolt?

You can kill that 10 bolt with the power you're making now, just takes the right amount of wheel hop from what I gather. Wheel hop seems to be more of a factor when it comes to failing 10 bolts, if you can eliminate that as much as possible,(upgraded SFC's,LCA's, PHB,TQ Arm w/relo mount), you should be able to make it last a bit longer than the rest of us, but keep in mind you're pretty much on borrowed time when it comes to the GM 10 bolt. Good luck with this, I'm still on the stock 10 bolt myself, as long as it holds out till next years tax return I can finally get that 12 bolt or better.

All I can say is I just got my 3:73s coming from those shitty 2:73 like you...and couldn't be any ******* happier....best decision I've made thus far...Now that I think about it.. the 2:73s were like driving a fast fking mini-van compared to now...I also paired them with blisten shocks and Lca's to control wheel hop..It feels like a whole new car for the better...

Man ive never heard any body more excited about a gear swap than you justin. Lol.
I feel like the bigger the tire and the less shock you put them through the better.
Drive them sensible and foot break them hard instead of flashing the converter real hard and it should last a while. I sprayed mine out of the hole one time at the track and that was the final straw. But my car makes around 600 flywheel and has a 175 plate kit on it though.

You can buy aftermarket rear ends made specifically for a 4th Gen F-Body that will allow for you to bolt on your stock/upgraded suspension. If you go the other route you'll end up having to modify it to accept what you've got.

Yeah...see for me...It's not about the track, ets, none of that stuff...It's all about the quality of my dd...and for me, I have 2 girls I have to pick up from school, and lots of city driving....so imao...the 2:73s are absoulutly not good for this...The gear swap gives me (and the girls) a great sotp feeling that truly makes dd fun..I'm hardly ever over 55mph, so I'd alway's reccomend them over 273s...
and for the op....don't spend /waste your time trying to figure out when your 10 bolt will take a ****...I did this and it got me nowhere...some run 10s,11s and some take off with slicks for the FIRST time and blow their rear end...just don't completely neglect your suspension and you'll be fine...If you go to the track everyweekend, I'm sure your asking for trouble though.
