Default Is a 120v mig strong enough for 8.8?

I am going to be making an 8.8 for my car.

Is a 125 amp/120 volt mig welder strong enough to do this work?

I hear that I need to use nickel rod and got a few tips, Can anyone give me exact kinds to order?

Anyone have any input or information on it?

A family friend offered to pick it up for me if i tack everything in place and finalize it with a 220volt.

I believe if you finalize it with a 220v you'll be fine - just go a lil extra overkill on support brackets and stuff !

Would the 120 volt mig alone be strong enough? Id like to do it myself if possible.

I wouldnt try it

best case lets say you pre heat the housing properly and you know how to weld properly ... can your 120v welder do 3/8" steel in a single pass?

If you are asking all these questions then let somebody else do it. A weld is only as good as an operator. As an ex-certified welder I can tell you that a 110v can do a LOT of stuff when its in the right hands. But if you arent really good with it, you can make really weak welds too.

I'd like to know how you plan to use a rod with a mig welder.
