I just went back threw and looked at the pictures of the Motive gear pattern, look at the contact spots at the outer edge of the ring gear at the bottom of the picture.

I took apart the aluminum pinion support and this is what I found, a little sliver of aluminum came out when I pressed out one of the bearings. Also looks galled up.

Here is a video of the races

Look at the see patterns notice there is no contact on the bad area.

Its a video showing how his inner bearing race is showing a funny wear pattern. Its kinda up and down like a roller coaster.

I see you went with the iron pinion support this time. That's the same one I went with also. I have my car up and running but have to move the fuel pump. Its in the way of the tq arm bracket.

I used stock brackets just as you did but ground the welds off flush at the housing. I think that is why my ride height is a bit high. My spring isolator have been out for some time but I am running 275/60/15 radials on it so it looks tall.

I am gonna cut the springs some I think.

Was also glad to have adjustable control arms on my car. When you have a tire that almost fills the wheel well you notice real quick when there not quite in the correct place.

Cannot wait to spray it out of the hole. Hope for a 1.3x 60' time. Would be awesome.

I agree, I think you found your problem. That sliver was most likely distorting the race (egg shaping) very likely causing the pinion to wobble and create the funky wear marks on the ring teeth.

Did you press that race in or did it come pre-installed?

In the future consider using a dry graphite film lubricant on the outter portion of a race that will be pressed into aluminum. Even if it goes in straight there is the potential of a snag which will sheer the aluminum, the graphite film will help prevent this from occuring.
