I have a constant humming coming from my rear end, no clicking or clunking, so how likely is it that it is just a bearing and not the entire rear end blowing up? what are main symptoms of the bearings going bad and symptoms of the rear end blowing up? also what are ways to tell with out actually taking the cover off?
Thanks
Ryan

the stock 7.5 rear is known for eating carrier bearings and sometimes axle bearings. you can try to jack the car up, take the rear wheels off and rotate the axles by hand to see if you feel anything. now i tried this on my car and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. once i pulled it apart i found out it was a carrier bearing that was bad.

how many miles on the car?this is a weak rear end that has a problem dealing with your engine power.take it a part and inspect the bearing like stated above.you probably will find bad bearings .

Car has 88k miles on it, I plan to take it apart this weekend, i was just hoping to maybe figure out what is wrong with it and maybe get the parts for the weekend. would there be a vibration if either one of these went bad? My car has zero vibrations just the humming.
