this is a real simple deal... The S60 has the new style diff unit in it when ordered in "street" fashion. The 9 inch unit has been revised a couple times through our testing and is a similar design to the S60, but the two rearends are completely different means a whole different set of cases and internals. The S60 is much larger and the basic original design was proven a long time ago, and the S60 was a better market for Strange to give priority to vs the 9 inch.
As stated earlier the unit is a mechanical style and has no clutches, is smooth operating similar to a Truetrac and Wavetrac. All I am willing to say about the testing is that it has gone well and we have beat the snot out of it with some heavy cars and good power. It is M6 friendly and has excellent street manners.

No power level numbers will ever be put on a particular component as everyone's cars are a bit different, but in all theory any car with an auto trans will be less violent on the drivetrain compared to a clutch. I would sure hope that an a4 car can put more than 600 on a S60...

So is this new diff stronger/smoother than the true trac that was previously available on the s60 (at no extra cost?)
When can we expect to have some real hard information about this diff?

this diff is definitely NOT a Platinum Track circle track diff unit. If that unit was that good everybody would have been using it by now considering the limited options for 35 spline diffs available for the 9 inch.
The unit that this thread is talking about is 100% from Strange, developed in-house and marketed by Strange, and tested in the field by us and a few others. It is manufactured for the street/strip crowd that need
The new diff unit is available to the public now through Midwest Chassis & Performance. It is retailed at 995.00, and carries a limited lifetime warranty. There is not alot of info available in print or websites quite yet, but feel free to call us and we will be more than happy to go through the details. It is a smooth operating diff unit that is preloaded and will feel just like a factory posi unit.
