Default What kind of gas mileage increase will I get if I go to 2.73s?

I have an a4 with 3.23s. I do not race at all anymore. I currently get 21 mpg on the highway. How much of an increase in mpg should I expect on the highway? city? Thanks

Maybe around 24... I got 27 to 28 mpg on the highway with just a bolt on A4 2.73 car.

If you wanted fuel economy prob should have got a prius lol...

Because of the engine mods,I'm guessing it would only go up to 22. As you go from 3.23 to 2.73,the engine has less of a mechanical advantage therefore 'engine load' increases. As engine load increases, the computor richens the air/fuel ratio to compensate.
I get 21.5 highway mpg with 4.56s'/A4,but I'm stock in the engine dept.

I've had the car for 6 years. Don't ever race anymore...can't afford a new car right now.

costs to convert from 3.23 to 2.73
-2.73 gearset;new vs used(cheaper might not ever run quiet)
-2 series carrier;used would be OK if you could find a decent one
-rearend rebuild kit or just needed parts
-charge to setup,if you didn't do it yourself
-due to less mechanical advantage on drivetrain, more stress on components.

If you ended up really wanting to do it,would be less expnsive to pick up a 2.73 complete 'take-out' rearend of compatable channel,3 channel=ABS 4 channel= ABS & Traction Control
