Gear question for FI.
I planned on going with a D1 on my car in the future. That's the reason I went with the 3.73s. I'm N/A right now and went from a 4.10 10-bolt to a 3.73 9" and really didn't notice much difference. Now I see a lot of people suggest a stock 3.42 gear ratio or a 3.55 for a turbo setup. I'm wondering if I decide to go turbo over a D1, will a change from 3.73s to lower gear ratio like 3.42s be worth it?
I can trap at 132 @ 6500rpm with my 315/30/18 street tires. More with another set of 15s and 26" or 28" tire. Not sure if this means anything because I really do not understand how gears and turbos work together.
I've done plenty of searching and I don't see many people suggest a 3.73. I want to know if it will be alright or if 3.73 and a turbo is not a good match up.

You'll have to see what your trap rpm is with whichever route of forced induction you go with. Bob

So for the most part, it would be more beneficial to switch to a lower gear such as a 3.25. I suppose if I spend 5k or more on a turbo setup, an extra few hundred for gears won't be a big deal. Thanks.
