What are your guys thoughts on a 3000lb car with driver and 4.10 gears. I'm swapping over to a cobra rear in the near future and I'm tempted to go with 3.73 over my current 4.10 rear end. Keep in mind I use a shorter tire than the f-body guys. Around 24.75" tall. I think it's shorter. I am at about 2k at 70mph.

Edit: Why in the internal engine section?

Heres the latest update as for me. First of all very sorry for putting this in the wrong section it is just habit to put it there. Ironically I guess most guys in here have cams which goes hand in hand with the gear. Currently I am going with the Richmond set GM75410OE. I know theyre hard to set up but it seems to be my best bet for a good gear and not spend $600. Maybe I looked in the wrong place but it seemed that th GM Performance gears are simply ridiculous on price. Thanks for all of the advice guys

Get motives....the richmonds will make noise. I would go with 3.73 or 3.90

Yep, my motive 4:10's whined like a banshee. Perfect gear set up for this car though, they should have came from the factory with 4:10's.

sorry for thread hijack but i am building and 8.8 rear for mine. I know the ratio is the same but is there a difference in 4:10 between 7.5 and 8.8? since the diameter is bigger would it still have thye same exact effect or will they be a little better or worse? thanks

the ratio's are the same so your speeds and RPM's will be the same. The 8.8 robs maybe 1/4-1/2 a HP more than a 7.5 but you wont notice that.

The 8.8 will be easier to setup

Im getting my 4:10s installed next week. I got oem nos gm gears off ebay for $150. I don't want the rear end to whine like it already is. Im doing a ta girdle and studs along with a solid pinion spacer while im in there. Should last for a while because I run street tires and don't track much, if I blow this rear up I'll be in line for a 12 bolt.
