Default Help! How to remove axles on 2000 SS four channel

I am trying to remove the backing plates and parking brakes from a 3.23 Torsen 4 channel. To do this I have to remove the axles. I have removed the rear diff cover and drained the oil. Instructions say to push the axles inward to pull the C clips. I tried, but the axles don't move. I also don't see where the C Clips are located. Pictures or diagrams would be a great help. I obviously am very new to this.

Thanks in advance for your help

there is a pin between the axles that you must remove ,then you push the axles inward.

^^This, and be ready because the c-clips tend to just fall and it's a p.i.t.a. to get them back out. Small pliers or a magnet make life easier

Thanks, Where is the pin, and how do I remove it? Is it inside the Torsen?

the small diameter long screw running horizontally in pic,hex size,I think,is 5/16. Remove that screw and the 'block' that it's screwed thru will pull out. the end of the axles and c-clips will be visible in the space that block occupied.

Make sure the pin is removed but I also found issues with the ABS sensors mounted on the backing plates. These could give you a problem also, remove to move the axles in just a lil more.. Oh and another issue I have found on a vehicle b4 is the rear was rebuild years before and the used axle saver bearing which are a tad wider pulling the axle out a little. The guy must of hammer the c-clips in and the will NOT come out. lol Hopefully you will not have this issue! Good luck bro have fun
