Your brake lines will be 1" to long on each side and you will have to purchase wheels with the correct back spacing as well. Beyond that you see no issues until you try to go more than 3.5 per side.

^^^this....just went through it myself (1" p/side). Little tweak of the lines here and there, no issues with suspension. Wheels were pre-ordered to fit. 18x11 ended up +19mm offset.

Why narrow a rear end if not tubbing the wheel wells?

In most cases you wont need to. Purely cosmetic for me and wasnt running a tire size that didnt require it.

LPE 403 has hit it on the head, it is mainly a looks thing to get that nice deep dish look on the rear wheel. You also have to remember you do not need to mini tub your vehicle going with a -3.5, it merely just changes the back spacing on the wheel itself.

To the OP, if you do not plan on buying wheels you will not want to narrow your housing.

No need for a narrow rear if that is your only reason

On my '99 Camaro I went one inch narrower each side and went with a 15 x 10 wheel with a 6.5" backspacing. The only reason I did this was for the look of a little deeper dish wheel. Bob

you can save some weight too. Same rim weight, but 1-6 inches less axle, and housing tube.

im sure its purely cosmetic.

but just for a brain teaser here would rotating mass be effected at all by the bs or offset of the rim. i guess im saying if you get your offset closer to 0 would the wheels rotate any better? also what about stress on the rim. i always thought a closer to 0 offset would be best. think of the new ZO6 wheels 19x12 with 59mm offset, thats over 8 (back space) inches inside the axle and 4 out... would it put more (or different) load on the spokes?

could just be a stupid question.

a 15x10 w/ 4.5 or 5.5 backspace would be much stronger and run more true in theory as compared to a the same wheel with 7.5 backspace.

^^ never thought of that. But I did it because of looks/weight.
