Default help choosing wheel studs for 9

Trying to decide between 12x1.5 or 12x2.5 I'm currently running the SS wheels and I was concerned the longer studs wouldn't clear the lug nut cap.

I'd go with the short 12 wheel studs. Bob

If you are buying 9" axles and are choosing wheels studs I would recommend going to 1/2, they are generally 30% stronger depending on the manufacture and your stock wheels will work with them.

I can't say I've ever tried the 1/2 studs with the stock wheels, the 1/2 studs do work with all of the aftermarket wheels that I have tried them with. Bob

They both will, they are virtually the same size. We very rarely sell 12mm studs with our rear ends or if we do we set our customers up with both 12mm and 1/2 holes that way you can do either or and is worth it for the extra $15 it cost.

We do the same for customers wanting to run 1/2 now and possibly 5/8 studs at a later date. Well worth it and much cheaper than trying to do it at a later date.

Yes you can get OEM style external thread lug nuts for 1/2" studs.I just got a 12 bolt with 1/2" studs and did this.I couldn't find them at any local parts stores so found some here- E Z Accessary.com.They have all sorts of lug nuts and also plastic caps. The larger lug nuts take the larger size plastic caps like the GM trucks that have 14mm studs take. BTW I got the longer studs and the large caps fit on over them. You have to really look at the front and back wheels to notice the larger caps.Hope this helps.
