I can see they have different names, but same brand, same 2 series carrier. What's the diff? Which do I want?
I'm upgrading from 2.73s, so I need the 2 series carrier. Also, what install kit should I get?
Ratech has one...http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RAT-3000K/?rtype=10
Richmond has one... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RMG-831016M/

I just installed some AAM gears with the Richmond install kit you listed. My first priority in choosing a kit was USA made Timken bearings which the Richmond kit comes with. Ratech uses Koyo bearing IIRC. I did have a issue with the pinion shims of the Richmond kit being too small on the ID and they were sitting on the radius of the pinion. I opened up the ID some with a sanding drum until they sat flat on the pinion. I couldn't use the stock shim because it got ruined by the pinion bearing spinning on the pinion. Everything else was great with the Richmond kit nice seals and Torrington axle bearings. I also used a Ratech 4111 solid pinion spacer kit which is more stable than the crush sleeve.
