3in stud spline OD
3in stud spline OD So here is the problem,
I am putting in the 3in studs into my rear axle on my 12 bolt moser.
I have a set of Morso studs and the OD on the splines is .480 and it is all sloopy loose. I messured the ID of the hole on the axle itself and it is also
.480.
The next size up in studs from Morso is a .560 OD which will be about .08 of a differance which will be way to much and I won't be able to press fit it into the axle.
When I mic'ed the stock stud it messures .491 after being curshed down but will still go back in tight a .01 should be around the proper fittment for a press fit.
So unless anyone knows of another stud with a .495ish OD over the splines I think my only option will be to drill out the axle itself and go to the bigger .560 OD'ed stud.
