Girdle cover load bolt seal washers
I have been using some Parker ThredSeal sealing washers to seal the load bolts on my TA Girdle Cover for a while now and they work great so I thought I would share the info. Parker makes these washers and they are designed specifically to seal a threaded stud and nut from internal leakage. The TA cover (and probably most others) use a 1/2 stud which uses a Parker # 750-002-1/2. Parker makes the washer with the rubber alittle too thick for this application though (the rubber needs a chamfer or or countersink to extrude into as the nut is tightened) the hole in the cover for the bolt doesn't have the needed clearance and the nut is not countersunk enough. I sanded the rubber down until it was just proud of the metal washer part of the seal. Then the seals go under the load bolt nuts, the nuts are snugged up and...no more leaks.
I ordered my seals from my local MSC Industrial store. Their P/N is 65075871, $2.60 ea.

Parker has some good PDF catalog pages on the theory behind their design of these seals. Just Google-Parker Thredseal.
