Australian 9 bolt

Has anyone tried an Australian 9 bolt in their f body? I'm trying to find a cheaper solution to shelling out 2k on a 9" and I know of an Australian 9 bolt that I can get for relatively cheap. I'm just not sure how much power it can withstand or how much modifications I need to put it in my 2000 WS6. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The aussie9 bolt is a it stronger than the 10 bolt however not by a bunch. Problem still being the small ring gear and the LSD units do blow apart parts are NOT easy to... locate parts

yeah i've heard locating parts for that rear end is pretty difficult. do you know how much power it will handle?

I killed a 9 bolt in my 3rd gen with a mild 350, well the lsd anyway.
held up for quite a while though

My brother has a 3.70 geared 9 bolt in his '88 Iroc. It has a built 355 with a T56. No issues as of yet. It's quiet as could be after several 12 second passes with 3K RPM dumps on drag radials. He gets stuff from 9bolt.com or something like that. They are a pretty stout little rear end for how small they are. They are designed a lot better than the 10 bolt IMO.

It has a 7.75" ring gear so It's just barely bigger than a 7.5 stock 10 bolt. You can put a 7 5/8 ring gear in a stock f body and they break just as easy as a stocker too, pretty much just more expensive and harder to get parts if you as me.

I know a guy who ran one in his iroc with 3.73's. Car ran low 11's on motor and mids 10's on the bottle. He ran his rearend for years and had no problems with it. Off topic but it is still on the factory iroc pcm which he tunes himself.
