Narrowed backspacing?

Narrowed backspacing? Plan on running 17 x 11 Street Lites with a 3" per side narrowed S60.
What backspace do I go with, car is not mini tubed, stock lca location, BFH'd

Don't you just subtract? Like if the stock BS is 7.5" or 7.75" and your rear end is narrowed 2.5 inches you would order your wheel in 5" or 5.25" backspace?

That's what I figured but Eric from Midwest chassis suggest that I run a 5.25 backspace, just wondering if that's what everyone else is running
