Default How many of you running a 9" also have your car lowered?

Any clearance issues? I'm running Strano springs (1.5" drop) and koni shocks.

A standard stamped 9 inch with a factory type torque arm will hit the tunnel at stock ride height. The MWC fabricated 9 inch with it's exclusive torque arm does not have this issue. We have lots of customers with the Eibach or Strano springs with no clearance problems.

I've had people run the Moser 9 inch in lowered cars such as yuors. Normally there are two spots where the torque arm and torque arm bracket will rub the floor, and all it takes to add clearance is to shove a prybar up there, and pry the floor away from the torque arm or torque arm bracket. You won't notice these modifications from inside the car unless you don't have any carpet.

The Moser M9, which is their fabricated rear, won't interfere at all with lowered cars at 1.5" drop. The M9's included chromoly torque arm follows the contours of the floor, which eliminates interference, and the M9's torque arm mounts are much smaller and will not interfere. Bob

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the difference b/t a Moser 9 inch and a Moser M9?

I'm running a Moser 9" with Hotchkis springs (1.5" drop) and UMI adjustable torque arm. No clearance issues at all, I did not have to clearance anything under the car at all. Pretty much direct bolt in for me.

Moser's standard 9" is a stamped steel housing. The M9 is a fabricated housing

I'm guessing the M9 is considerably more expensive than the Moser 9 inch. :o

Yes it is, but if you don't already own a good aftermarket torque arm, then it isn't that much more money. The M9 comes with a chromoly transmission crossmember and telescoping chromoly torque arm. My '99 Z28 cut 1.29 60ft times with the very first M9 f body rear made, on dot drag radials.

I will certainly keep it in mind, thanks. The 10-bolt isn't gone yet, but after 195k miles, it's sounding like it won't be too long, so I'm trying to do a little homework before the inevitable happens.

I have the same springs and shocks and My nine inch did cause the TA mount bolts to touch the left side of the tunnel right at the back. Whacked it twice with a dead blow. Problem solved

I will admit that with my TA mount and UMI TA i have had a few issues. One muffler was touching from the true duals and the TA mount itself touched the yoke when I made a panhard adjustment. However moving that muffler and grinding the mount fixed all that. The midwest TA would have been great if I didnt have the UMI already

I have a MWC 9" and strano springs no problems as of yet but only have about one mile on the setup due to a lifter making noise after I installed everything. As far as I can see there is plenty of room though.

Quick Reply: How many of you running a 9" also have your car lowered?
