Default Moser 12 bolt leaking have some questions.

Hey guys yesterday I installed the new Gmmg on my car and noticed there is like a coating of oil all over the rear cover. I dont know if it's because the rear is overfilled or a plug or the rear gasket is leaking. Just wondering if you guys have any insight to narrow down the leaky spot. It's not leaving a puddle, the housing and rear cover are just coated.

If its fresh then you should probably get a gasket and replace the rtv you likely have in the gaskets place, but if the oil is old and caked I wouldn't worry about it, no puddles? Good, now just see if it's fresh leakage.

Best thing is to pinpoint the leak if possible. It could be the pinion, vent plug, fill plug, rear cover or rear cover drain (if equipped).

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I called up the previous owner of the car and he said the reason it is leaking is because he overfilled it last time he did a fluid change. I drained it down to the fill plug on the side and I have no issues now.
