Default 79 Bronco 9" in Camaro?

I'm new to the F-body community and just purchased a 99 Z28. A friend of mine has a 79 Bronco 4x4 and the rear diff is a ford 9". Is there any way I could cut that axle to size on my vehicle or would I be better off just buying one from the likes of Moser or Quick Performance? I'm really just looking to put down 500 wheel horsepower or so. Also, is it possible to use the stock 7.5 and make it safe for those power levels? I may eventually go spray as well.

Bump?

I'd be getting this rear end for free and I was curious about whether it'd be cheaper to get this axle narrowed and fit for my car or if I'd be better off buying from Moser or Strange?

You'd be better off going aftermarket. I believe there is a problem with the stock 9" axles not having enough meat to adequately support the torque arm, plus by the time you get all the work done to make it fit, you will be near the cost of a new one.

Stock 9 inch rears are no strong then your stock 10 bolt. Making one work requires special tools and knowledge. Go aftermarket.
