Default Pinion Yoke -End Cap u bolts

Am installing a new u joint on the rear side of the driveshaft for my Camaro 10 bolt.

My question is how to center the u joint in the pinion yoke when there are no tabs or grooves in the 10 bolt pinion yoke?

On my Moser 12 bolt pinion yoke there were tabs in the yoke to center the u joint end caps when attaching the u joint to the pinion yoke.

On my 10 bolt pinion yoke there is nothing - just flat - no tabs or machined grooves for a c clip retainer.

This is my first time installing a driveshaft to my 10 bolt and it is apparently different than my Moser 12 bolt. It was easy to center on the Moser 12 bolt.

Thanks in advance.

I did a search but couldn't find anything other than pics of a pinion yoke that is identical to mine.

The retaining clips will be on the ujoint for the 3R/S44 joint. That will center the joint in the pinion yoke. Photo is from driveshaftspecialist dot com.

Thanks - I don't have the u joint yet. I guess if I had it first I would have answered my own question.

What I am doing is mounting a PST driveshaft with a 1350 U joint to my 10 bolt pinion yoke I am told takes a 1330. I am told I will need a crossover u joint - PN# Neapco 2-1153. I see now in the picture of the 1153 u joint that it has inner c clips.

Next question.

Is it best to use a saddle kit to attach the u joint to the pinion yoke or U bolts?

Reason I ask is because it looks as if there are threads in the pinion yoke for a saddle kit. But it currently had U bolts.

My concern is that the U bolts might have damaged the threads in the pinion yoke as u bolts get pushed through the yoke and are secured with nuts. So I think the threads might be damaged.

Your opinions?

Thanks in advance.

The 1330 does not have inner c-clips. The 1330 and GM3R/S44 are dimensionally the same.
The joint you would need is a combo joint 1350 to GM 3R/S44 neapco partno.11-00503R. Combo joints are known for vibrations if the angles are off.
As for the saddle kit that is what came on the car. Just me, but I would not use ubolts on the pinion yoke if was design for a saddle kit.

Just got back from the vendor.

The part # I got was a Neapco 2-1153 which is a combination U joint.

This joint has c clips on the end caps on the small side and uses a c clip that looks somewhat like a kidney on the 1350 side and is fitted into the yoke on the driveshaft on the outside of the end cap.

There are no machined grooves on the inner side of the pinion yoke and there are no outside tabs on the pinion yoke. The c clips for the joint fit in grooves cut into the end caps. When the u joint is fitted to the pinion yoke the end caps fit into the pinion yoke with the c clip fitting against the inner face of the yoke which "supposedly" centers the u joint into the yoke.

I was told the c clips on the smaller endcaps should be set at 6 to 12 o'clock when I fit the u joint and driveshaft unto the pinion yoke. At the 6 to 12 o'clock position 90 percent of the two c clips are fitted against the inside of the yoke.

The position of the c clip makes sense and for those less experienced like me could overlook and install the c clips in some other position leaving little if any of the c clip holding the center position of the joint in the yoke.

I got saddle clamps as suggested by the vendor.

Spicer 2-70-48x bearing strap kit.
