how loud should a used set of gears be on a 9"

how loud should a used set of gears be on a 9" i just bought some used 3.25 ultra light wieght gears for my bolt thru 9" case. i had a local high performance tranny shop put them in case and they said because there used they will make some noise. i got them in a couple weeks ago and on the coast side you can hear them. but on a cruise speed it sound like a relly good humming noise.

I'm sorry man, I don't think anyone can answer you. It depends on how they were set up before and how close to that the shop got them. I would say as a rule, assuming the same application, that they can never be quieter than they were in the original install.
