Heres my setup. What rear end should I go for: ford 8.8 rebuild or the moser/strange?

I have EC's base rear with a girdle. My car has been running 7.2's in the 1/8th without any problems for over a year now. It 60's low 1.6's/high 1.5's. I would get the base rear with a T/A girdle and maybe a stud kit, it costs 25.00. An Auburn is plenty strong for you want. They also have a good warranty on them...you break it, they give you a new one, no rebuilds.

So what should i go for and what upgrades are necessary? help.
I just installed my moser 12 bolt with all the bells and whistles that I got on a group purchase from ttperformance shipped to my door for under 2200. I contemplated your same decision 2 months ago and went with moser for a few reasons. Less money for what I wanted, larger company, I thought I may have more support If there were problems, and a very proven rearend, nothing against the 8.8s I hear they can take a beating, but they are relatively new to the f body scene in my opinion.

Thanks for the response. The pricing I posted actually had WAY more stuff than Ill ever need. I spoke to the owner of the shop and it turned out that it would cost me only $2065 WITH a strong driveshaft ($250). So the rear end would really cost me $1815. The owner also said this rear end should handle 600rwhp easy (but ofcourse posi could always break - same case with any rear if you dont go with a spool).

Can you PM with the price you bought it for and what it included? I would be SUPER interested.

1) What gears did you go with? does your rear end whine?
2) how much heavier are those moser rear ends then stock rear ends?
3) what kind of posi did you go with?

Hope you can answer soon. Im going to have to send my deposit out fast.

If you want to see how much noise an 8.8 makes just go ride in one of your buddies Mustangs. Craig just installed one in my 02 Z with 4.10's and it is as quiet as I could want for a street car. I romped and stomped on it at the track last Thursday (11 runs) trying to find the right launch combo and it is faultless so far. My 10 bolt was good for 40 runs and then POOF! I was foolish enough to rebuild it twice before going to the 8.8. I could have bought two 8.8's for that price.

Check this out.
I tried launching from 5000rpms doing a clutch slip then spraying a 100 shot when it first hooked. I shifted to second after the nitrous shut off. NO problems on stock 10 bolt. Complete boring details here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axles/162814-attempted-launch-5200rpms-nitto-drs-then-spray-still-1st-stock-10-bolt.html

I know the Ford 8.8 is totally bad ***. I just dont know if its something for me.. Especially when its costs SO MUCH and you dont get any performance out of such a purchase. Unless if people go with 4.10s or something. Ill probably never even go higher than 3:73s.
