Ls1 10-bolt to Lt1 10-bolt please help me guys
Making a long story short, I blew the rear in my 98Z it has ABS/ASR, I can pick up a rear from a 95 Lt1 with 3.42's and no ASR for $150, and since I'm a broke college student this is an awesome deal for me. I don't care if I lose the ASR, its not a concern of mine, ,But can one of you guys tell me exactly what I need to do to use the 95 rear. The only thing I've come up with so far is having the brake backing plates swapped, but I would appreciate it if anyone could shine some more light on the issue. Please don't say anything about a 12bolt/9"/8.8 none of them are viable options for me now. thanks in advance.

You need the tone rings that are on the axle flanges and the right backing plates and plug the hole left by the sensor in the top of the diff and your back in buisness. I'm taking a 10 bolt out of my 98 Camaro and putting in a 12 bolt and the 10 bolt has just what you need so if you live near Michigan say so I'll let ya have the stuff you need to get you back running. If you arent worried about the ASR no problem, you may have to shim the caliper bracket towards the outside of the car with a washer on each side if the caliper bracket hits the rotor. LT1 axles stick out a but futher but not much. You may be able to just use your old axles and keep your ASR but I'm not 100% sure about that, never tried it myself.
Also, if I remember right, LT1s use a 1310 u-joint and LS1s use a 3R saginaw joint wheich are slightly different but they make a conversion joint. Could be wrong on that though.
