That 12 bolt howl and dynamat
I bought a 12 bolt due to a lack of funds and getting agreat deal on it. Its a very solid rear but it has that 12 bolt howl i knew it would have. I know its just their nature and I can live with it, but just out of curiosity has anyone ever tried dynamatting their car to quiet it down a little or is it just unfightable? lol

dyno mat did help a little bit but not very much. My gears are killing me with noise. I have been through 4 sets in my 12 bolt all set up to be quiet but as soon as I start abusing the car it starts the dreaded howl back. I drove it for 5 months last time with out running it hard and no noise. First night racing, drove home with a noise. It has gotten worse and worse .

check out the stereo section on sound absorbers.
i just did my car but haven't driven it yet, there's stuff from raamaudio that's 1/8" thick foam called ensolite ps (peel&stick) that is supposed to be a good sound absorber. if you pull your carpet and put 2-3 layers of that under that "might" help and would be about the cheapest way to go for sound absorber (not vibration damping).

WTF! you mean to tell me that if you buy an aftermarket 12 bolt, that have to baby it, or you will get "the 12 bolt howl"? Something is wrong here

It seems hit or miss with the 12 bolt--some have issues and some don't. The only time I hear of guys having issues is when they hit the track with some drag radials or slicks and do a few clutch dumps out of the hole. I have a 12 bolt waiting to go in, but it's not because it was my first choice...it's because it was cheap

their vibration damping BXT mat however is I think one pound per square foot.
