Drivetrain loss
I think build quality is also a factor, as well as how the car is driven. But, in general, a more complex system will have more points of potential failure. What kind of car are you talking about?

Yeah... um, my lack of coffee is showing again.
Anyway, I *think* roughly the same principle applies, in that the more complex system (more bearing points, etc) would result in higher drive train losses, all other variables like drive train mass being equal. But, will that difference be big enough to be noticed, and will it be offset by the benefits of the IRS?
