Default Wheel stud help

Hey fellas,
i've got a problem. I broke a wheel stud on my 4th gen rear which happens to have a traction control or abs ring on it. I can't get the wheel studs to clear. I know that you have to remove the axle and have it pressed off then back on but since I have a 3rd gen I really don't need it. My question is can I air chisel it off and save some time and money or does it need to be there?

The ABS sensor ring can be removed from the axle with a large pry bar, especially if you don't plan to reuse it. It serves the axle itself no purpose.
