buying S60, can i cut my aluminum driveshaft to length
ok im about to install a strange s60 in my car, instead of spending $400 for a new length driveshaft, theres a real good driveshaft shop by me, is it ok to have them just cut and re-weld my aluminum driveshaft that I have now?
Will it be the same strength

Are you talking about the stock GM aluminum DS? I've seen many pics of those peeled apart. If you have a good aftermarket aluminum DS that is rated for your power and intended use then have the shop shorten it, if not Strange makes a nice 3" chromo DS with 1350 u-joints for like $320. What you don't want to do is move the weak link from the rear to the DS were a failure will tear your car up.

Exactly what Tom said. You've come this far; get a driveshaft that can HANDLE the power. Even stock these aluminum DS's literally peel apart.
Either 3.5" aluminum or 3" chromoly would be my choices, but that depends on how you're leaving the line (Trans brake, hole shot...)
Denny's makes some fine DS's as well.
