Question New Mosser 12 Bolt

I have a new 3:73 Mosser on my 2000 Z-28, it is noisy around 40 to 65 mph, what concerns me more is that it seems to run very hot. After just 10 miles, I get a 140 degree temp reading on the housing with an infrared temp gun. Am I worrying about nothing???? At this point I' am ready to sell it and find a stock rear end.

what did you put in there as far as oil?

Id assume 2 quarts of a thin visc oil and a bottle of GM additive?

Yes they get hot, the higher the gear the faster the pinion turns which = more heat. When they are new the bearings are set up pretty tight and make more heat also, it will run cooler after a couple thousand miles.

Thanks for all of your input, I will start with loosing the SLP rear lower trailing arms with poly bushings and add 4oz more of GM Additive. Then I will design an after market differential cooler. Be careful what you buy from SLP.
