If you plan on doing any serious drag racing on slicks I would suggest getting an aftermarket center section now to replace the Ford unit. I ran the Ford OEM center for many years with my auto. With my current setup and a T56 trans on ET streets I grenaded the center a few months back. I didn't notice if your car is an A4 or M6 but I would imagine an auto car wouldn't be much of an issue but the shock of a M6 seems to break the OEM Ford units.. Here are some pics of mine.

But yes they cut my axl a tad shorter and replace the wheel bearing and seal! You could see where it was rubbing.
