jacking rear end up s60
So this may sound dumb to some, but what is the best way to jack my 01 ws6 up with an s60 rear end since itt has a very odd shape to it and I am not comfortable putting a jack on it to raise the rear. I usually jack each side up by the frame one at a time but that's a huge pain. I need to get the car very high also to get my 2 stage cribbing blocks under all 4 wheels. Any advice would be appreciated!

ok. I was just concerned because its a very odd shape lol. Now to get the rear end up very high do you ever use say a chunk of 4x4 with the jack? with the stock 10bolt it was a breeze never even worried no matter how high I raised it lol

if you have a jack similar to this which is basically what i use, the cup sits nicely on either the flange where the cover bolts to or on the center of the underside where the torque arm mounts. my cover doesn't extend down to where the jack would touch it, just make sure your cover is the same way. that flange is like 3/4" or more thick on the s60, so there's no problem jacking on it. i've had no problem putting the car up about 1-2 feet by that to get jack stands under the body. only thing i ever worried about was balancing the car left to right jacking it up that way but i haven't had a problem yet. don't go doing anything else like open a door or sit in the car when only one jack is supporting the car under the center of the axle, hopefully that's obvious. and leave the wheels on till you get the car safely supported in case it ever does drop.

I use a floor jack also . I put my jack stands behind the e-brake plates on the axle as I raise the car from the punkin to insure if a problem occurs the stands will catch the rear end from falling. BE SAFE!!! the oldman...
