No, C-clip eliminator kits keep the axle from walking out of the housing when and if you should break a axle. This was one of GM's design flaws in there factory rearends.

Yea I get that. I was just wondering if they'll support the axle strength enough to withstand the hp

Unfortunately no. If your looking to make 500 horse there is nothing you can do to a factory 10 bolt to make it survive that kind of power. Even with my car making 344 to the rear wheels my factory 10 bolt was getting noisey towards the end of last season.

i finally have to ask. everybody says dont ever use a 10 bolt. what is the problem if you upgrade everything? eaton posi > stock, aftermkt axles > stk, weld tubes, add pinion spacer, aftermarket gears, C clip mod, new bearings, girdle, (anything i missed?) why , why, why CAN'T that hold more rwhp than stock?

SIZE,SIZE,SIZE.

You're an A4/2.73s',so you shouldn't have too many problems with the stock 10 bolt.
I consider the OEM 2.73s',3.23s',3.42s' as the strongest gearsets for our little 10 bolts.

If GM had put the 8.5/8.6" 10 bolt rear in these cars it probably would have been OK. But they went with the tiny little 7.5".

The inherent flaw is the size of the gears. No amount of strengthening the axles or the case will fix that. Sure, you can do some things to help reduce deflection that then can help reduce a little stress, but you still run into the issue of the gear size (and mesh pattern too I believe, there is only 1 tooth in contact at a time IIRC vs the larger units that have 2 teeth). So while you can strengthen the stock rear some, and while it is true on the street it'll survive a lot longer, in the end it is a bit of a waste.

Better thing to do is not put any money into the 10 bolt and just run it. Save the money towards a stronger rear instead, or just replacement 10 bolt rears lol. Seems a waste to dump a lot into trying to strengthen the 10 bolt as that is a losing battle.

There is one aftermarket gear manufacturer that offers/has a 'heavy duty' set built for strength but not guaranteed to be quiet, but what that % increase in strength is ?. An aftermarket cover with bearing cap adjustment studs helps, but to what degree. Auburns will break at the spider gears, Torsens will break internally in its' gearset or its' internals end cap will break(do a search in this gears and axles forum for 'catastrophic'). Sometimes an axle will snap/break near the splines into the carrier. Pinion crush sleeves lose their tension and allow the pinion to move toward the carrier.
One of the locals up here in the Cleveland area took his 98 A4 Firebird into the 10s' and eventually the spiders blew. A4s' will not destruct a 7.5/7.625 10 bolt like a M6 will.

additional ? for those of you who blew up your 10 bolts, what % of the time did the ring & pinion break? was the 10 bolt bone stock? any aftermarket parts inside? installation issues contribute to failure? basically what broke & why? thx

Loading and unloading will cause it to break even with lower horsepower. You'd be surprised at what power it will hold if you keep the pull constant. Wheel hop, uneven pavement and a one wheel wonder tire fry will kill it quick.
The 9inch is the best rear to use in my opinion because gear changes can be done on a bench and multiple third members can be changed for different tracks.

You will be more then ok running the 10 bolt with your car. Yes even with a stall.
I have a bit more mods then most, run low 11's, and still turning the 10 bolt.
Don't let the above doomsayer's scare you.
