Did you use a normal or "thick" gear? The thick ones do make more noise than the normal thin gears.

Thick as in the ones for series 2 diffs? I thought I had 2.73s a while back, but I actually had 3.23s so I got the regular series 3 3.73s

Some odd breaking news about the gears!

I was honestly thinking the next time I would post in this thread it would be to say they finally bit the dust.

Well about 2 days ago I was on the interstate coming home, had the radio on. I got off the interstate and into town and realized I could hear stuff!

Its been 1000-1200 miles since the install and they seem to have quieted down significantly. Should I be even more worried now? They still make a bit of noise, but before I couldn't even carry on a conversation they were so loud, now they're barely noticeably making noise.

Congrats, you've gotten used to the noise!

Nah, its a definitive difference. I used to almost not be able to hear my exhaust, and they used to echo under the one overpass on my way home and they don't anymore.

Idk, I'm waiting for them to eat themselves away lol

This is why, "you purchase the gear set from the business that installs them".

With you purchasing your own gear set, it is very easy for the installation shop to blame it on the gear set, then it is on you.

If you purchase the gear set from the business that installs them, and the rear-end wines, IT IS ON THEM, and they will have to replace and set it up so that the install will be completely quiet.

Good point, but sadly, some of these shops don't even use any lube when they rape you by charging 3x-4x the LIST price of some of these gearsets.
