3 channel to 4 channel diff swap.
After reading another post I feel I should clarify.
I swapped the entire rear end, not just the carriers.
When I drove the car I wasn't getting any ABS inop light, just the Low Trac light. Brakes worked but I was getting that grinding rocks feel in my pedal, stopped fine though.

02 formula 2.73s' (A4 ?) 3 channel ABS.
M6 3.42s' (M6)(4 channel ABS & TC ?).
If above is true, you put a 4 channel rear into a 3 channel car. ABS will no longer function. A 3 channel car needs the carrier reluctor ring AND sensor at the top of the rearend. The two sensors on the axle ends of the 4 channel rearend will NOT integrate/compatable with the 3 channels' vehicle electronics.
Not really sure what you meant by you swapped the brake lines. A 3 channel ABS system has one line running from the front to a splitter/tee at the rearend. A 4 channel system has two lines running from the front, each line going to one wheel.
The old rearend was making noise from somewhere. Not a whine, more of a whering sound. This one doesn't. So I'll get some new gears for the old 3 channel and when I have done I'll throw it back in.
