Default NEED HELP! Pin will not go back into differential (strange 12 bolt)

I have a strange 12 bolt rear. I removed the pin that goes through the differential to begin taking out the axles. A mechanic came over to look at the car and help. I think he pushed in the springs and gears in the differential a little bit, and the hole for the pin is not lined up. I have some pictures to show what I mean. How can I move the gears inside the differential to line up with the hole, so I can put the pin back in?

Put the wheels back on and have someone hold one of them firmly, then have someone else rotate the opposite wheel forward very slowly with mild force until the gears line up with the hole

or you can just find something a little smaller then the pin (like a big screwdriver) and stick it in the hole and pry everything back. Its not uncommon for the spider gears to move with the pin out and they will move back pretty easy.

On an open diff, they will move easily, but on a Posi, the spring retainer makes it a bit difficult to set back in place once moved out of position....
