Moser experience My moser experience for what its worth.
Ordered 12bolt, 33 spline, 4.11 gear, with eaton HD posi. Installed aprox 7/03 of last year. Currently with 656 miles on it
On initial install had a fair amount of whine at 65 mph. This got progressivly worse with each track visit. This spring I drained the fluid and found the lube full of metal shavings. removed the cover and found the gear set damaged, heavy wear on the outside edge of the ring and pinion.
Had a shop owner friend of mine help me install a new gear set. Off to the track I go, still some whine but at 40 mph now. During my second trip to the burn out box it feels strange and I think I'm only gettin smoke on one side though not sure. Car launchs fine at 5500 cuttin a 1.62 60ft. Third run, now I'm sure only heatin one tire but go ahead and launch it. I cut a 2.6 60 with one tire spinnin.
Pulled the rear and took it to a reputable gear shop in town. Looks like the posi is bad and my new gear set is gone as well. Guess the new set up wasn't right either. I'm assuming at this point that the metal in the lube killed the posi.
Moral to this story. Have someone check the set up before you install it. Or better yet have them ship the parts and pay for your own set up.
