Auto Trans Pan
Is there any advantage/disadvantage in performance to installing a transmission pan that would hold an extra 2 quarts of fluids and have better finning at the bottom?All I can think of would be a bit better cooling of the fluid versus a slight weight gain.
Would it be worth the time and effort?

had the stop-prongs ground down so the filter was
about 3/4" deeper in the juice and had 3/4" of juice
below it too. So you become less fluid-level-sensitive
(a problem with the 4L60E, fluid low = odd things
start happening), you have more thermal fluid mass
to deal with heat spikes during "occasional" hard
driving, your silt sits below the filter instead of in
it, etc.
But I kept tagging speed bumps with the drain
bolt after I lowered the car, so now it's a shed
ornament and I use a steel pan (that seals for
bulldada, by the way) instead.
If you want cooling, count on a trans cooler; the
pan is going to do nothing in that respect, when
you aren't moving right along.
