9" rear questions
it has a 4.10 gear which is exactly what I want with my new drag tire set up but it has a spool. I would probably get a posi put in but wanted to hear from anybody who drove a spool on the street.
also seem to recall something about a special u joint that lets you use the factory driveshaft ?
and third, it has Willwood brakes on it, that I don't want, what does it entail to put factory LS1 brakes back on it?
thanks in advance for your answers.
There is a conversion ujoint you have to buy. One side being bigger, one side being smaller. Your 9 inch should have a 1350 yoke (bigger) and your driveshaft is 3r or 1310 depending on who you talk to. You really should update the driveshaft before you go crazy racing the car.
It depends on if they use stock back plates or not. If they do then you just swap the calipers and rotors over. If they are like my strange brakes and use a unique backing plate you will need someone to press the bearings off, install stock backing plates, then press new bearings on. Backing plates cannot be swapped with the bearings in place. My advice is to keep the wilwoods if they are coming with it.
You should be able to rock the stock driveshaft with a conversion U joint, but in my opinion it isn't worth the risk of destroying the underside of the car if it does decide to let go.
As far as the brakes, redss is right, if they're small wilwoods maybe they'll work with your 15s? Maybe a bit of grinding. I have no idea though so my opinion is worthless here.
I purchased a strange 12 bolt that had the strange brakes on it, and when I contacted strange to get new bearings and wedding rings so that I could press on my stock ls1 brakes they told me they weren't able to supply me the bearings due to the type of axle I had (the hardened race axle that apparently won't work with my brakes due to the spacing). so I said **** it and cut my stock backing plates, bought the correct little brake spacer and what do you know it all went together and worked exactly as it should. Best of luck on making a decision OP, sorry for the wall of text. Hopefully the wilwoods use the stock backing plates, if so you're golden.

i drive my car every day in the summer time and 2 hours to the track.
just use common sense and dont park with the axels loaded(parking when your doing a turn not going straight) as this puts a load on the axels and studs the entire time the car is parked.
