Default Is an Adjustable Torque Arm Needed?

I am in the process of ordering a 12 bolt. I was told that I needed to get the torque arm. Is this really needed? I am a 6 spd, if that has anything to do with it.

You may need it if you changed rear end geometry
(springs > ride height, etc.). Since you don't know
for sure about the 12-bolt's mounting hardware and
your final installed geometry, it's a deal where you
would have to measure pinion angle afterward, and
then possibly have to swap TAs in another session,
vs. doing it all at once (saving some aggravation and/
or shop time @ rate).
