No, I did weigh that set up altogether. This is the weight of the entire axle with brackets an no oil.

I ran many very low 10's and an with an older T1 Torsen at 3700lbs, manual trans ( 28 spline too )

I later changed to another T1 in 31 spline, it took me a couple of accidental 2-1 shifts to break it, it ripped the crownwheel flange off it. Replaced it with a Wavetrac which looks to be a sturdier piece all round.

I did run with a spool for a short while....it just transforms any car into a piece of **** to drive, although I guess for a drag car it would be sufferable, but I will never have one in my car again.

I cant even tell my car has a spool except sharp turns need a little more rpm.

It's blatantly obvious the instant you drive off, turn, perform any manoeuvre. The only time you wont notice is in a dead straight line....although that kinda goes without saying

And it causes front tyres to scrub off like **** due to wanting to understeer everywhere. I ruined a set of front tyres in only 2500-3000 miles and most of that was just normal driving

For the few months I had one, I honestly cant think of anything positive to say about them...other than it being a nicely machined piece lol

Nah, my experience is completely different. Honestly, because I have sticky tires it bucks a little during tight turns, like turning right at a light, but that's it. Ive never noticed it being intrusive other then that. As far as wearing the front tires, my mechanical understanding of a spooled car and how it works tells me thats highly, highly unlikely. The two back wheels fight against each other, they dont fight the front enough to cause appreciable wear. And yes I drive mostly in a straight line, dont most people.

It is very very likely and a fact. The simple fact the car only wants to go straight because the driven wheels are locked...the front tyres then need to work harder when turning is involved. And they really do work harder.

Depends if where you live only has straight roads I guess.

Just regular Toyo road tyres. T1R's at the time I think although it was about 8 years ago.

Normally fronts would last around 10k, with the spool...it was a fraction of that.

The only time I've ever felt like a spool was contributing to the piece of **** idea was when a friend of mine was running stock LCAs & spool. You could really feel the mushiness, and a sort of grabbing feeling in corners. Rod end suspension solves any strange feeling with a spool. (IMO)
the only time I've ever had a second thought about the spool was when my fuel pump died and I had to push the car to turn it around.

Mine is fully rose jointed, 4-linked with panhard rod. If anything that makes it worse as there is no compliance.

The only time it didnt feel terrible is when I had soft drag radials or wrinkle walls at the back.
